Lissa is Pure- fresh skin (DollShe colour chart)

Lissa's kimono is silk brocade and is lined with a gold woven silk. Her under kimono is embroidered silk and so is her obi sash.I made her fan fron japanese orgami paper backed with a heavier card stock. Her head piece is flowers attached to a wire head band so it is removable and can be adjusted for fit.Her sandals have leather tops and the heels are polymer clay covered with orgami paper and laquered.

Eyes are "Eyeco"-platinum series, Wig- "Monique goldl".

I had a lot of fun making this doll and leanrned a lot about Geisha's in Japan. It seems over time the role for Geisha's changed a lot. True Geisha's were entertainers and highly trained in many traditional arts. I watched many videos about Geisha culture and roles they played. It is a fascinating world although a much smaller one today.

The traditional hair dos were amazing and a complicated art in itself to master. They used supports, add-ins and wax. I did attempt a facsimile but decided on something simple that would stay put and not ruin the wig. I had a book on how to make a Kimono for a real person and was able to use it to make a dolly sized lined kimono.I also simplified her Obi so it can be removed and put back on easily (no complicated knots to master).

The title is a reference from the movie " Memoirs of a Geisha"
